Promat DURAWALL®
Promat DURAWALL® is a fully certificated fire protection barrier system. It is built around the Promat DURAWALL® composite panel (steel faced panel, with a non-combustible rock wool core). The system is supported by a series of other fully tested products, offering fire protection to doors and voids, penetrations, structural steel and protected zones.
Promat DURAWALL® panels fully comply with LPCB 1181 and 1208 and the full system achieves certification to BS 476: Part 22. The system then receives a full certificate of conformity when the installation is complete.
Promat DURAWALL® is ideally suited for the construction of non-loadbearing internal partition walls that require a tested fire rating to act as firewalls or compartmentation walls. The insurance industry recognises the value of passive fire protection and the important role of compartmentation in improving safety and potential losses in this area. As well as the risk to life, ingress of smoke and flame can be responsible for loss of high value inventory, critical data or business critical equipment. Statistics show that up to 80% of businesses affected by a major incident close within 18 months.
The concept of Promat DURAWALL® has many benefits over more traditional methods of constructing fire walls such as blockwork and plasterboard. The most significant is speed of erection. Promat DURAWALL® can be installed at speeds of up to 200m2 per day, whereas the “Wet Work” nature of blockwork means that only a certain number of courses can be laid at any one time. With plasterboard, a labour intensive “built up” system will be required to install tall barriers and high fire ratings, problems that do not affect the installation of Promat DURAWALL®.
